My passion for animals began at a very young age and eventually grew into a lifelong commitment to understanding and improving their health and well-being. I began volunteering in animal shelters at just 11 years old, which sparked my continued involvement with the rescue community and deepened my appreciation for responsible breeding and animal welfare.
Early in my career, I worked as a professional dog trainer, where I helped clients better understand their dogs’ behavior and needs. During this time, I saw firsthand how closely nutrition, gut health, and overall wellness influence behavior and quality of life. This realization led me to shift my focus toward holistic canine and feline nutrition.
My own dog, Kylo, a cattle dog mix, played a pivotal role in this journey. Kylo struggled with chronic stomach issues, IBD-like symptoms, and allergies that significantly impacted his health and comfort. Through extensive research and careful dietary adjustments, I was able to resolve these issues by supporting his body through proper nutrition and a biologically appropriate diet. Witnessing his transformation reinforced my belief in the powerful role nutrition plays in supporting long-term health.
Today, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Animal Health & Behavior, and I continue to pursue additional education in holistic small animal nutrition to stay current with emerging research and best practices. My goal is to help pet owners better understand how thoughtful, species-appropriate nutrition can support their pets’ digestion, immune health, skin and coat condition, and overall vitality.
While much of the conversation around pet nutrition tends to focus on dogs, feline nutrition is equally important and often misunderstood. Cats are obligate carnivores with unique metabolic needs that differ significantly from dogs. I am passionate about helping cat owners better understand species-appropriate nutrition and how diet can play a crucial role in supporting digestive health, urinary health, weight management, and overall longevity.
Through Nature & Nurture Pet Nutrition, I work with clients to provide individualized guidance tailored to each pet’s unique health history, lifestyle, and nutritional needs. Whether recommending high-quality premade diets, helping incorporate fresh foods, or formulating custom meals, my focus is always on supporting the whole animal through balanced, intentional nutrition.
I believe that informed pet owners are empowered pet owners, and that thoughtful nutrition is one of the most powerful tools we have to help our dogs and cats live long, vibrant lives.
